“American football is such an iconic part of sporting culture, which made me curious about how the sport translates when played outside of its usual setting—specifically, here in Australia.
When I started following Max, one of the key players, I quickly became drawn to the visual and emotional intensity of the game—the bold uniforms, the face paint, the energy, and the raw emotion that comes with both winning and losing.
What interested me most was everything that happens beyond the game itself: the build-up, the preparation, the quiet moments before kickoff, and the wind-down after. This project focuses on Max’s journey, documenting his experience from home to the field and offering a personal perspective on what it means to play American football.”
