Max Berry

Max Berry (b. 1987) creates semi-fictional paintings that blend bucolic scenes, memory, and quiet observation. His focus on line, color, and light seeks to slow time, producing dreamlike images of water, clouds, and levitation—inviting a contemplative silence.

Drawing from international residencies and Australian travels, Berry transforms sketches and photographs into evocative compositions, merging real and imagined spaces. His work explores the poetic gap between place and perception, offering a subtly surreal yet welcoming world.

A UNSW Art & Design graduate, Berry has been a finalist for the Wynne Prize and Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Award, with features in Artist Profile and Sydney Morning Herald. Residencies include Bundanon Trust (Australia), Cill Rialaig (Ireland), and Nelimarkka Museo (Finland). He is represented by China Heights Gallery (Sydney) and Galleria Lolita (Madrid).
