China Heights gallery presents a group exhibition of new works by Aedan Lee, Edward Woodley and Kyle Montgomery.

At first glance each of the participating artists seems somewhat disparate, exploring different mediums and deploying different techniques. Aedan, Edward, and Kyle have each independently established diverse art practices within Australia and internationally, yet they are strikingly alike, a single-minded and highly industrious approach infuses their works, affording them each notoriety and respect. This apparent affinity is the result of their shared involvement with the establishment and continued operation of Sydney art gallery China Heights. Over the last 15 years each of these artists have spent a formative period working as the key members and consequently it's had a fundamental role in shaping their respective trajectories. 'Cadre' presents new works that are entirely uncompromising, proficient, and original.

Aedan Lee (1989) Lives and works in Sydney Australia. Creates experimental forms that reference the utilitarian aesthetics of public space. Seeking truth in the apparent bedlam of modernity, Lee’s works fracture, dissect and restructure the man-made environment to create space for a new observational lens.

Edward Woodley (1977) Lives and Works in Sydney Australia. Harnessing salvage & repurposed materials, Edward intuitively investigates an obsession with the duality of self governance within a centralised society. Signage, the architecture of typography and appropriated functional objects each play a part in synthesising these ideas.

Kyle Montgomery (1987) Lives and works in regional NSW Australia. Montgomery’s work is an intentional collision of two beliefs in physical form, religion and spirituality combine to create the ultimate icon. The resulting works delve into ideas of re-birth and the after- life, principals and messages, portrayed in earlier collage works, are transformed into three-dimensions.

An important group exhibition, an example of combined origins, particular meaningful in their involvement and assistance to the wider Sydney arts community.
