15.11.19 Amor

AMOR is a culmination of moments of Kates trips and travels over the last 10 years. Friends and lovers dreaming, escaping, kissing and skateboarding. Kate’s pure and atmospheric photography seduces you into an otherworldly psychedelic paradise - with off-beat colourful landscapes, crazy cacti, hot hazy vistas, flickering palms and colossal rock forms. In friends and lovers, Kate finds her models and muses - this allows her to work with a sense of spontaneity and ease which takes on the charm of youthful freedom. Each image takes you a new sun drenched adventure.

The photographer Kate Bellm’s pictures are not only seen around the world in magazines such as Playboy, Interview, or 032c. She also works for brands such as Gucci, Audi, and Adidas. Her first book, Amor, compiles her best snapshots from the past decade.

During her sessions, Bellm, who lives/works between London and her remote studio in Mallorca, is always engaged with her models: “I go with the flow and work with the vibe of the girls or people I'm shooting to get them feeling comfortable and free in front of the camera.” This creates a sense of trust that is necessary for the occasionally adventurous situations in her images. Whether her models are running up a mountain nude, or diving to the bottom of the sea, nature always plays a special role as the setting for the work. Bellm’s works are characterised by a romantic atmosphere, spontaneity, and at ease. Editorials blend with private photographs, colour with black-and-white.

She mixes a Polaroid aesthetic with experimental film and a variety of cameras. The pictures always radiate cool, drawing the viewer into its circle of enchantment. They portray femininity with fascination, combining elegance, sexuality, and female empowerment all in one. Bellm has found inspiration in the works of photographers such as Helmut Newton, Larry Clark, and David LaChapelle.
