Stanislava Pinchuk : Miso
CATALOGUE
Made in the Chernobyl Nuclear Exclusion Zone, 'Sarcophagus' presents Stanislava Pinchuk's largest work to date. Spanning 6 metres, it is a tapestry that data maps the topographic radioactivity levels at the Sarcophagus being built over Reactor 4.
The data woven into the tapestry presents a broad range of influences; part funerary shroud, part bridal veil – as well as a study of bee-keeping in the zone. Extremely autobiographical, it ties particularly to the artists' upbringing in Ukraine following the accident, within a family of bee-keepers and lace makers.
