China Heights is proud to showcase Jesse Lizotte's first exhibition in Asia to launch at The Slow, opening 11.08.2018.
Lizotte will be showcasing a series of 10 rebellious black and white images, based on an overview of his recent bodies of work.
Since his 2014 debut exhibition ‘Lowrider’, Lizotte's photographic artworks have acquired much acclaim, gracing the covers of magazines like GQ, Oyster and 10 men, as well as the pages of iD, Inprint, Clot & Vogue.
Driven by an interest in the way people on societies fringe influence popular culture and fashion, his subject matter often gravitates towards subcultures, whether it be skateboarders, lowriders or musicians.
Lizotte’s approach to his subjects is honest and considerate, fostering natural connections that are evident in his portraiture. His images evoke a sense of familiarity for the viewer, yet his photographic sensibilities give a fresh perspective with a filmic quality, capturing both tension and movement.
