Kane Trubenbacher is a 25 year old tattoo artist and painter, working in Melbourne Australia.
Having grown up in rural country areas for my childhood before moving to the city, my work centres around the oppression of living in urban environments, particularly exacerbated during city nights. The work featured in “Desperadoes Under The Eaves” utilises motifs from the tattoo world as well as phrases, signs, and insignia associated with urban environments. The tension between these phrases, signs, and images tell a narrative of parallel disassociation and romanticisation with the urban world and my place in it. The works were produced over a 6 month period in 2015 which were very trying for me, and led to many nights walking the city looking at neon lights for strip clubs and cars passing on dark streets, and these selected paintings from that period were an attempt to diary those nights to move forward.
